PIMA - Polyisocyanurate Insulation Manufacturers A Roofing is one of the most common renovation projects on commercial buildings. Upgrading a roof assembly to meet current building standards provides an opportunity to save energy and maintain the necessary fire and structural performance. This course reviews the code requirements for commercial reroofing and discusses how reroofing can improve a building's energy efficiency. 60 minutes.

  • Summarize the building code provisions for roof recovering and roof replacement.
  • Recall how reroofing can improve a building's energy efficiency.
  • Discuss the International Building Code provisions, testing, compliance paths, and definitions for reroofing.
  • Recall exceptions to energy code reroofing requirements to ensure code compliance.
  • Explain how to apply energy code provisions to roof replacements.

Faculty BIO

Marcin Pazera, PhD, serves as Technical Director of PIMA. In this role, Marcin coordinates technical activities for the polyiso industry, serves as the primary technical liaison to other industry associations, and leads the PIMA Codes, Product Standards, and QualityMark work groups. He joined PIMA in November 2017. Marcin holds a doctoral degree in mechanical engineering from Syracuse University and over the course of his career has worked in building science with a focus on evaluating the energy and moisture performance of building materials and building enclosure systems. His experience includes work in building-enclosure consulting and product-manufacturing-encompassed-research, testing, product conception and development, computer modeling/analysis, and technical support.
