Advantages of Precast Terrazzo, 2024

Wausau Tile Inc. Terrazzo is versatile and durable, comes in a range of colors, and has multiple applications. It can be used in interiors and exteriors and, depending on the manufacturing process, can be customized to fit complex geometries. In this course, we discuss different applications of precast, cementitious, and epoxy terrazzo and the installation requirements, as well as the ability to customize these products to fit different design requirements. 60 minutes.

Learning Objectives

  • Describe how machine-pressed terrazzo tiles are manufactured, list recommended uses, and recall applicable testing standards.
  • Describe how precast terrazzo is manufactured and restate minimum performance standards, including compressive and flexural strength.
  • Specify appropriate installation materials and methods to prevent failures, such as cracking and tripping hazards at floor height transitions.
  • Recall the environmental benefits of precast terrazzo, such as improved indoor air quality and recycled content, and how it contributes toward satisfying LEED v4.1 credits.

Faculty BIO

Rob Mulry began his career with Wausau Tile in 2007 as a Site Furnishings project manager. Since then, he's worked in our Paving and Terrazzo department as a project manager while also being our Senior Technical Product Manager for all product lines. In 2019, he was promoted to Paving Manager where his leadership skills began to shine, and in 2022, the Terrazzo Tile department came under his management. Rob's commitment to continued learning and growth, matched with his forward-thinking style, has helped Wausau Tile bring multiple new and exciting products to the market over the years. His leadership and innovation will continue to keep Wausau Tile at the forefront of product offerings while providing the highest standards of quality and customer service.
