Dunn-Edwards Corporation Sustainable design and green practices have raised consumer awareness about the potential dangers lurking in buildings and homes from products such as paints and coatings. Environmental sustainability has influenced architects and interior designers to approach their projects in ways that boost health, lower consumption of nonrenewable resources, and minimize waste. This course looks at the evolution of sustainable design, ways to measure the environmental impact of volatile organic compounds (VOCs), how paints and coatings can contribute toward satisfying LEED credits, and how these products may play a role in designing for well-being. 60 minutes.

  • Discuss the history of sustainable design.
  • Recall and compare descriptions, ratings, and regulations pertaining to volatile organic compounds (VOCs).
  • Identify how paint can contribute toward earning LEED points.
  • Describe how paint contributes to occupant well-being.

Faculty BIO

Dominika Bandyk is the Manager of Architectural and Designer Services for Dunn-Edwards Paints. She has spent the last 16 years in the design industry, receiving a bachelor's degree of art in interior design from the Design Institute of San Diego. Her passion for architecture, design, and sustainability brought her to Dunn-Edwards, where she has held many positions over the last seven years in both store operations and sales. Dominika is currently responsible for leading the Architectural and Design Team in the southwestern United States. She is an industry member of ASID.
