LX Hausys America Selecting a countertop surface today, whether for a break lounge or a reception desk, means weighing the relative sustainability of the choices while considering whether the material meets the design objectives of the space. This course will help you decide whether quartz surfacing does that. We will review its performance characteristics and environmental and human health impacts, compare it to other options, and guide selection and design. 60 minutes.

Learning Objectives

  • Recall the ingredients in the manufacturing of quartz surfacing and its environmental and human health impacts.
  • Relate the durability, low VOC, and hygiene characteristics of quartz surfacing to a variety of applications of the material
  • Compare the performance, aesthetics, and environmental impact of quartz surfacing to other surfacing options.
  • Work with a quartz surfacing sales specialist and fabricator to create a safe, durable, and successful surfacing design.

Faculty BIO

Richard Rudy's 50 years of regional and national experience in the building materials and architectural products industry includes 35 years in decorative surfacing materials sales and sales management. He has direct contact experience with A&D and construction professionals, facility owners and operators, code administrators, and state officials. Richard joined LX Hausys (then LG Hausys) in 2016 in a staff position to provide solid surface and quartz products technical support services for management and field personnel in North America.
