Travis Industries, Inc. Traditional and modern, linear direct vent gas fireplaces safely provide supplemental heat while preserving indoor air quality. The course explores gas fireplace venting systems and heater- and decorative-rated fireplace options, electric fireplace options, functions, aesthetics, and applications. Also discussed are innovative technologies that enhance performance, applicable codes and standards, safety requirements and precautions, and size considerations. 60 minutes.

Learning Objectives

  • Summarize heater-rated, decorative-rated, and outdoor vent-free gas fireplace options and electric fireplace options and recall their appropriate applications.
  • Explain how a direct vent gas fireplace system operates, providing efficient heating and a safe combustion process while maintaining indoor air quality.
  • Discuss how performance accessories such as cool wall TV kits and power exhaust vent kits impact fireplace location options and enhance the functionality of direct vent gas fireplaces, improving occupant comfort and well-being.
  • Identify the safety measures, including zero clearance to combustibles, double panes of glass, safe-to-the-touch glass, and safety screens, that protect building occupants.
