Flexibility, Accessibility, and Ergonomics in the Open Office Space, 2024

Legrand Flexible work scheduling, telework, virtual work, and the high cost of office space are some of the drivers of the 21st century workspace. This open, flexible, adaptable, and casual space must still serve not only the technological needs of its users, but also the accessibility needs of a diverse population. This course examines the technical requirements for providing accessibility, universal design, and ergonomics in an open office space and looks at a variety of solutions in the functional areas of the office: open office areas, the workspace, and collaboration areas. 60 minutes.

Learning Objectives

  • Determine the difference between accessibility and universal design.
  • List the accessibility laws, codes, and standards as they apply to commercial office projects.
  • Describe data and power delivery options that meet accessible route requirements.
  • List equipment considerations at the desktop that meet ergonomic, reach range, and operable parts requirements.
  • Describe accessible design requirements for collaboration areas and recall solutions for video and audio equipment.

Faculty BIO

Dave Onofrio has spent 31 years in the electrical product manufacturing industry. Dave currently holds a role at Legrand specifically focused on the Commercial Interior furniture dealer channel. Dave has extensive experience in delivery content pertaining to Lighting, Lighting Control, Data Systems, and Electrical Device Control. Dave is a trusted advisor to the Commercial Interior Channel and is capable of delivery multiple formats and presentations on the subject matter.
