Description of ASTM-B483 2003ASTM B483/B483M-03Historical Standard: Standard Specification for Aluminum and Aluminum-Alloy Drawn Tube and Pipe for General Purpose Applications (Withdrawn 2012)ASTM B483/B483MScope 1.1 This specification covers aluminum and aluminum-alloy drawn tubes in straight lengths and coils for general purpose applications in the alloys (Note 0), and tempers shown in . Coiled tubes are generally available only as round tubes with a wall thickness not exceeding 0.083 in. [2.00 mm] and only in non-heat-treatable alloys. Note 1—For drawn seamless tubes, see Specifications B 210 and B 210M, for tubes to be used in condensers and heat exchangers, Specifications B 234 and B 234M, and for seamless pipe, Specification B 241/B 241M. Note 2—Throughout this specification use of the term alloyin the general sense includes aluminum as well as aluminum alloy. 1.2 Alloy and temper designations are in accordance with ANSI H35.1 and H35.1M. The equivalent Unified Number System alloy designations are those of preceded by A9, for example A91060 for aluminum 1060 in accordance with Practice E 527. 1.3 For acceptance criteria for inclusion of new aluminum and aluminum alloys in this specification, see Annex A2. 1.4 The values stated in either inch-pound units or SI units are to be regarded separately as standard. Within the text, the SI units are shown in brackets. The values stated in each system are not exact equivalents; therefore, each system shall be used independently of the other. Combining values from the two systems may result in nonconformance with the specification.
