Description of ASTM-D3963 2007ASTM D3963 / D3963M - 01(2007)Standard Specification for Fabrication and Jobsite Handling of Epoxy-Coated Steel Reinforcing BarsActive Standard ASTM D3963 / D3963M | Developed by Subcommittee: D04.32 Book of Standards Volume: 04.03 ASTM D3963 / D3963MAbstract This specification covers the fabrication and jobsite requirements for deformed and plain steel reinforcing bars with protective epoxy coating. The fabrication of steel reinforcing bars after coating shall meet the requirements prescribed. The storage, handling and placement at the jobsite of epoxy-coated steel reinforcing bars shall meet the requirements prescribed. The repair method of damage incurred during fabrication and incurred during shipment and handling at the job sites shall meet the requirements prescribed. This abstract is a brief summary of the referenced standard. It is informational only and not an official part of the standard; the full text of the standard itself must be referred to for its use and application. ASTM does not give any warranty express or implied or make any representation that the contents of this abstract are accurate, complete or up to date. 1. Scope 1.1 This specification covers the fabrication and jobsite requirements for deformed and plain steel reinforcing bars with protective epoxy coating applied in accordance with Specification A 775/A 775M . 1.2 This specification is applicable for orders in either SI units (as Specification D 3963M) or inch-pound units (as Specification D 3963). 1.3 The values stated in either SI units or inch-pound units are to be regarded separately as standard. Within the text, the inch-pound units are shown in brackets. The values stated in each system are not exact equivalents; therefore, each system must be used independently of the other. Combining values from the two systems may result in nonconformance with the specification. 1.4 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety and health practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.
