ASTM D4527-99
Historical Standard: ASTM D4527-99 Standard Test Methods for Carbon Black-Solvent Extractables
SUPERSEDED (see Active link, below)
ASTM D4527
1. Scope
1.1 These test methods cover two procedures for measuring carbon black solvent extractables.
1.1.1 Method A -This test method determines the total material extracted from carbon black by toluene under specified conditions. The procedure is also applicable using other solvents such as benzene, cyclohexane, etc.
1.1.2 Method B -This test method measures the portion of the carbon black extract that is eluted with cyclohexane from a silica gel column. This amount is subtracted from the total mass percent extract determined in Method A and the resultant is assumed to be the aromatic/polar fraction.
1.2 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as the standard. The values given in parentheses are for information only.
1.3 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety problems, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety and health practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use. For a specific precautionary statement, see Section 7.
