Description of ASTM-D5471 2010ASTM D5471 - 10Standard Specification for O-Xylene 980Active Standard ASTM D5471 | Developed by Subcommittee: D16.01 Book of Standards Volume: 06.04 ASTM D5471Abstract This specification covers a grade of o-xylene identified as ortho-Xylene 980. O-xylene 980 shall be tested and sampled in accordance with standard test methods and practices and shall conform to the following requirements: purity; non-aromatic hydrocarbons; p-xylene plus m-xylene; C9 and heavier aromatics; cumene; bromine index; appearance which shall be a clear liquid, free of sediment and haze; color in the platinum-cobalt scale; and distillation range. This abstract is a brief summary of the referenced standard. Scope 1.1 This specification covers a grade of o-xylene identified as ortho-Xylene 980. 1.2 The following applies to all specified limits in this specification: for purposes of determining conformance with this specification, an observed value or a calculated value shall be rounded off to the nearest unit in the last right-hand digit used in expressing the specification limit, in accordance with the rounding-off method of Practice E29 . 1.3 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as standard. No other units of measurement are included in this standard. 1.4 Consult current OSHA regulations and supplier's Material Safety Data Sheets, and local regulations for all materials used in this specification.
