Description of ASTM-D6153 2007ASTM D6153 - 97(2007)Standard Specification for Materials for Bridge Deck Waterproofing Membrane SystemsActive Standard ASTM D6153 | Developed by Subcommittee: D04.32 Book of Standards Volume: 04.03 ASTM D6153Abstract This specification covers three types of deck waterproofing membrane systems designed for use on bridge decks which will receive an asphaltic concrete overlay. Type I are cold liquid-applied chemically curing membrane materials that that require a membrane protection course. Type II, on the other hand, are hot applied elastomeric membrane systems that also require a membrane protection course. And finally, Type III are preformed sheet membrane systems. All types are applied to a bridge deck to prevent the passage of water from the bituminous surface course to or through the bridge deck. Membrane systems shall be sampled as appropriate for each type, and shall conform to performance requirements and physical properties as to permeability, and pliability. This abstract is a brief summary of the referenced standard. It is informational only and not an official part of the standard; the full text of the standard itself must be referred to for its use and application. ASTM does not give any warranty express or implied or make any representation that the contents of this abstract are accurate, complete or up to date. 1.
