Description of ASTM-E466 1996ASTM E466-96Historical Standard: Standard Practice for Conducting Force Controlled Constant Amplitude Axial Fatigue Tests of Metallic MaterialsASTM E466Scope 1.1 This practice covers the procedure for the performance of axial force controlled fatigue tests to obtain the fatigue strength of metallic materials in the fatigue regime where the strains are predominately elastic, both upon initial loading and throughout the test. This practice is limited to the fatigue testing of axial unnotched and notched specimens subjected to a constant amplitude, periodic forcing function in air at room temperature. This practice is not intended for application in axial fatigue tests of components or parts. Note 1-The following documents, although not directly referenced in the text, are considered important enough to be listed in this practice: E739 Practice for Statistical Analysis of Linear or Linearized Stress-Life (S-N) and Strain-Life (e-N) Fatigue Data STP 566 Handbook of Fatigue Testing STP 588 Manual on Statistical Planning and Analysis for Fatigue Experiments STP 731 Tables for Estimating Median Fatigue Limits2. Referenced DocumentsASTM Standards:E 3* Methods of Preparation of Metallographic Specimens E 467* Practice for Verification of Constant Amplitude Dynamic Loads on Displacements in an Axial Load Fatigue Testing System E 468* Practice for Presentation of Constant Amplitude Fatigue Test Results for Metallic Material E 739* Practice for Statistical Analysis of Linear or Linearized Stress-Life (S-N) and Strain-Life (e-N) Fatigue Data E 606* Practice for Strain-Controlled Fatigue Testing E 1012* Practice for Verification of Specimen Alignment Under Tensile Loading E 1150* Definitions of Terms Relating to Fatigue Keywords Constant-load-amplitude fatigue crack growth rates; Metals and metallic materials; Steel products;emgeneral; constant amplitude axial fatigue tests (of metallic materials),; practice,; Fatigue; metallic materials, constant-amplitude, axial tests ICS Code ICS Number Code DOI: 10.1520/E0466-96 The following editions for this book are also available...This book also exists in the following packages...Subscription InformationMADCAD.com ASTM Standards subscriptions are annual and access is unlimited concurrency based (number of people that can access the subscription at any given time) from single office location.
