Description of ASTM-F1070 2012ASTM F1070 - 87(2012)Standard Specification for Doors, Non-Tight, for Marine UseActive Standard ASTM F1070 | Developed by Subcommittee: F25.03 Book of Standards Volume: 01.07 ASTM F1070Abstract This specification covers the dimensional and mechanical requirements as well as the construction of steel, aluminum, and glass-reinforced plastic (GRP) non-tight, personnel doors and dutch doors for marine use. The door assembly shall be manufactured free of sharp and rugged edges, and the components shall be pretreated and primed as follows: steel doors and components shall be coated with inorganic zinc-rich primer before assembly, while aluminum doors and components shall be coated with wash primer followed by lead-free, chromate-free, anticorrosion prime coating. On the other hand, GRP doors and components shall be painted a 'haze gray' color after molding. Not covered by this specification are joiner, joiner dutch doors, and expanded metal doors. This abstract is a brief summary of the referenced standard. Scope 1.1 This specification to be used in conjunction with Specification F1073 , covers the principal dimensions and the mechanical requirements for manufacturing steel, aluminum, and glass-reinforced plastic non-tight, personnel doors and dutch doors, with the exception of joiner, joiner dutch doors, and expanded metal doors, for marine use. 1.2 The doors will be used in non-tight bulkheads. 1.3 When fire protection requirements are applicable to the location of these doors, then the use of aluminum and glass-reinforced plastic doors shall be unacceptable. 1.4 The values stated in inch-pound units are to be regarded as the standard.
