Description of ASTM-F900 2011ASTM F900 - 11Standard Specification for Industrial and Commercial Swing GatesActive Standard ASTM F900 | Developed by Subcommittee: F14.40 Book of Standards Volume: 01.06 ASTM F900Abstract This specification covers detailed requirements for chain link fence gates, gate posts and accessories for both single and double swing-type gates for industrial and commercial application. All gate hardware shall be of sufficient strength and durability to support the gate and repeated open-close cycles. Gate hinges shall be structurally capable of supporting the gate leaf and allow the gate to open and close without binding. Single gate latch shall be capable of retaining the gate in a closed position and shall have provision for a padlock. Double gate latch shall be a drop rod or plunger bar arranged to engage the gate stop. Locking devices shall be constructed so that the center drop rod or plunger bar cannot be raised when the gate is locked. The latching devices shall have provision for a padlock. Gate stops shall be provided for all double gates and shall be suitable for setting in concrete for the center drop rod or plunger. Gate keepers shall consist of a mechanical device for securing the free end of the gate when in full open position. This abstract is a brief summary of the referenced standard.
