Description of BS 4185-9:1976 1976This standard specifies dimensions and materials for a metric series of levelling screws, which are intended for use in conjunction with foundation bolts (sometimes known as holding down bolts) (see Figure 1), and their related locknuts and seating plates. It also provides for alternative designs of levelling screw and locknut. This standard does not specify any details of the associated foundation bolts other than their nominal diameter. To facilitate the proper installation of the levelling screws, recommendations are given as to the thickness of flange in which they should be used (see Table 1). Recommendations for grouting foundation bolts are given in Appendix A. Guidance is given as to the maximum recommended static load for the levelling screws (see Table 1). Dimensions and materials for the metric series of screws for use with foundation (holding down) bolts and their related lock nuts and bolts. Nominal diameter only of the associated foundation bolts. Recommendations for thickness of flange with which levelling screws should be installed, for grouting foundation bolts and for maximum static load for levelling screws.
