Description of BS 4495:1969 1969These recommendations relate to the flame spraying of ceramics, cermets and certain other high melting point materials for which the spraying conditions are similar, applied on to metals or any other suitable materials. The purposes for which the deposits are utilized include wear, galling and erosion resistance, heat insulation, corrosion and oxidation resistance, electrical insulation, and resistance to “wetting” by molten metals. Coatings may be applied to metals and other suitable materials for purposes such as wear resistance, corrosion resistance, heat insulation and electrical insulation. Recommendations for coating material, surface preparation, application of coating, sealing, surface finishing.
