Content Description

Per NFPA's requirements, when purchasing NFPA 2021 Standards and/or 2020 NFPA 70 (NEC), you must subscribe to at least one more NFPA Standard to complete your purchase. Through all-new JPRs, NFPA 1521 defines the qualifications and responsibilities of fire department safety officers. Rewritten to reflect the need for fire departments to ensure qualified personnel and observe measurable outcomes for emergency responders, the 2015 edition of NFPA 1521: Standard for Fire Department Safety Officer, specifies the Job Performance Requirements (JPRs) of both a Health and Safety Officer (HSO) and an Incident Safety Officer (ISO). The new JPR format is consistent with NFPA®\'s Professional Qualifications Standards. This edition also includes numerous updates for both HSO and ISO minimum requirements, reflecting newly identified hazards and risks to life safety. It will help fire departments train and evaluate personnel for improved safety and success on the scene. The new JPRs distinguish the differences between HSO, ISO, and assistant positions to outline the progress required for advancement. Definitions and references throughout have been revised for consistency with other NFPA health and safety standards.
