NFPA 1710 provides information about total response time for first responders, including: Alarm answering Alarm processing Alarm transfer Turnout time Response time Added fire department staffing levels for three building types gives fire chiefs and elected officials more support. NFPA 1710 provisions for staffing levels, deployment of resources, and levels of service are essential to public safety. New staffing levels only in the 2016 edition address garden style apartments, open-air strip malls, and high-rise buildings -- to provide additional coverage beyond the levels for single-family dwellings covered in previous editions. The Standard also has vital requirements for incident management systems, training systems, and communications systems.
