• Whereas the 2005 edition specifically excluded telecommunications facilities with less than 46.5 m2 (500 ft2) of signal-processing equipment areas, the 2009 edition only excludes the prescriptive-based approach of Chapter 6 for such facilities. The guidance and requirement of all chapters and annexes other than Chapter 6 do apply.
• Clarifications were made regarding requirements for new wire, cable, and signal-processing telecommunications equipment.
