Description of ASTM-D5948 2020ASTM D5948-05-Reapproved2020Active Standard: Standard Specification for Molding Compounds, ThermosettingASTM D5948Scope 1.1 This specification covers the basic properties of thermoset molding compounds and the test methods used to establish the properties. 1.2 Classification—Molding thermosetting plastic compounds shall be of the following resins and are covered by the individual specification sheets (see 5.1 and Annex A1 – Annex A8).
Note 1: There is no known ISO equivalent to this standard. 1.3 Order of Precedence—In the event of a conflict between the text of this specification and the references cited in Section 2 (except for related specification sheets), the text of this specification takes precedence. Nothing in this specification, however, supersedes applicable laws and regulations unless a specific exemption has been obtained. 1.4 The values stated in SI units are to be considered standard. 1.5 This international standard was developed in accordance with internationally recognized principles on standardization established in the Decision on Principles for the Development of International Standards, Guides and Recommendations issued by the World Trade Organization Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) Committee.
